Our East Coast Adventures Continue: Michael & Katelyn + A NEW puppy!

December 18, 2014

In between visiting Justin & Mary and Michael & Katelyn, we had the opportunity to shoot a GORGEOUS Indian wedding in Chantilly, Virginia. We are so excited to share the photos from that next week! The minute we walked in Michael & Katelyn’s home, we just felt so welcomed! If you follow Katelyn, you will have seen the photos of her gorgeously decorated home, but it is so much better coming in person, smelling the warm scented candles, seeing everything in person (especially for Christmas) and being greeted warmly by their adorable Bokeh! If you don’t follow Katelyn James – START NOW!! You can see her original home decorating photos HERE .  We first met Katelyn back at  WPPI a few years ago and our paths have crossed quite a few times in the last few years and now they are some of our best friends in the industry.

The first night, Michael & Katelyn had an event that they needed to go to, so Matt and I went to the local outdoor mall nearby to have dinner and do a bit of Christmas shopping. When we were finished, we met Michael & Katelyn who grabbing a bite to eat in the food court. They were definitely the fanciest dressed people eating there and they were just a tad embarrassed at Matt taking their photo! Afterward, they took us on a Tacky Light Tour of some of the homes that go ALL out for Christmas!

For the next few days, we worked with Katelyn and an amazing group of growing photographers on a special project launching next year. Katelyn has an enormous amount of talent

Before we left for our trip, we found our perfect puppy after a lot of research! I grew up with a golden color cockapoo and I had my heart set on having the same kind (Matt is such a gracious husband). While we were at the Alsops, we were trying to figure out when and how we’d get our little puppy and in the end, it seemed like the best idea was to send the puppy to Virginia and then we would fly with her home. We were SO excited and VERY VERY fortunate to be staying with two puppy-loving people. They were beyond gracious to have us keep her there with us! They took us puppy shopping and Michael & I picked up our new little puppy at the airport while the rest of the group were finishing up our project. I couldn’t believe how nervously excited I was. I felt way more nervous getting a puppy than having our 3 kids. Our little Sadie Belle was SO excited to see us! (Michael & I even saw Air Force One flying out of the airport while we were on our way out).

That same night, we went out for a lovely dinner at the Jefferson Hotel with some great people! I love that even though we live on the other side of the continent, that we have great friends that share the same passion for photography and more importantly, share similar values to us. We absolutely loved our night of a nice dinner, followed by hot cocoa & games at The Alsops showing off little Sadie!

Of course, even a restroom can be interesting enough to Matt to take a photo!
