Sometimes things just click. It’s a weird but amazing moment when you get to the end of your first meeting at Starbucks and you don’t really want to get up and leave! I had one of those moments with Nick and Janelle when we first got to meet and talk about their relationship and their wedding. They’re such a fun couple, totally in love, and I could just feel it! We were meant to photograph their wedding and be involved in their lives, and them in ours!
We’re so excited to shoot their wedding in Kelowna this year! We had an amazing time on their engagement session in Lost Lagoon and Whytecliff Park! And make sure you get all the way to the end…because there was a HUGE SURPRISE at the end of this session!! Seriously!!

We started off on a stroll along the trails surrounding Lost Lagoon

this massive tree was a great shade for them!

Janelle Rocking it!

Lost Lagoon sure is beautiful! The birds loved them at this spot though! ha!

Such a fun couple!

Then we headed to Whytecliff park and found these amazing fallen trees! love this area!

Lookin good dude!

She didn’t even fall!

This little island area is a great spot along the coast!

We hiked up to the peak to great a great view of the sun setting over Howe sound

They just make everything look good!

And we made it to the peak!

Then we found this great bluff overlooking the ocean, and an awesome little tree all on it’s own!

Love this spot!

Such a fun hiking spot

With the mountains as a backdrop, how can you go wrong!?

Janelle and those pearly whites!

And the sun starts to set

Such a romantic area for just to two of them…oh, and I guess me

Always lending a helping hand, what a gentleman

Sometimes this area is completely take over by water when the tide is in, but today we could get all the way out to the island, and even use the land bridge!

As the sun sets, we were in for a HUGE SURPRISE
And then the big surprise happened!! KILLER WHALES!!! We were just walking back from the island when we heard the gasps from other people around, so we stopped to check it out. There were 6-8 Killer Whales swimming around SO close to shore! It looked like they were chasing seals as well!
Here are a couple videos to see the whales, one from my camera, and then you should check out the Snapchat story that has more Behind-The-Scenes fun as well as a bunch of clips of the whales! Follow us on Snapchat at “mattandcarissa” if you want to see more behind the scenes fun of our day-to-day!
