Shawn and Ashlee Wedding

What an amazing day!! Matt and I were extra excited to photograph Shawn & Ashlee’s wedding as Shawn and Matt knew each other in high-school and were also hockey buddies.

Matt and I started out the day with Matt photographing the girls getting ready and me with the guys. I absolutely loved the groomsmen gifts that Shawn gave to his friends- he had engraved baseball bats with their names and “Best Man” or “Groomsmen”. Meanwhile, the “realness” of the day was starting to set in with the girls as they were getting ready at Pinnacle in North Vancouver. Then it was time for their “first look”.

Ashlee- “I  proceeded to walk to the end of the pier in North Vancouver where I could see Shawn with his back turned to me (it was a long walk). Walking up to him I had so many emotions: from excitement, to anticipation, and just pure elation of the day’s events. One of my favorite moments was the moment I got to see my best friend on what would be the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.” The first look was one of Shawn’s favorite moments too – “She looked absolutely stunning!

Shawn & Ashlee’s wedding was held at the always gorgeous Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club. Their ceremony was fun, yet thoughtful and touching! Isn’t their flower girl adorable!!

Ashlee- “When I first saw the reception area I started to cry. Seeing all the hard work over the past year finally before my eyes and absolutely loving everything about it really hit me hard. During the day I kept stopping in my tracks just take it in and try to remember what I was feeling right in that very moment. It goes by so fast and while so much of it is a blur, being able to look at photos takes me right back to those moments.”

Ashlee- “Being able to spend time with our loved ones was something I will cherish forever. How often are you in a room filled with loved ones to celebrate? Once, on your wedding day and it meant a lot to see everyone around me enjoying the day almost as much as I did.”
