Well. I’m pretty sure this is the LONGEST BLOG IN HISTORY #sorrynotsorry
We’ve had an amazing year in 2015, and we are so thankful to have such amazing frients and friendors (friends/clients and friends/vendors) to do it with! We also couldn’t do it without each other. We have our ups and downs like any married couple, but we come out holding hands and even slapping butts every now and then 😉 Here’s a little peak behind the curtain so you can see what our wedding days are REALLY like!
GETTING READY
We find that one of our greatest strengths is making people feel relaxed, calm and ready for the day. This is because we do whatever it takes to make things happen smoothly, even if that means doing up dresses, tieing bow-ties, and anything else that comes along because for some reason we are the only ones in the room that do it every week 🙂
You know what just doesn’t go together well? Red tea and white dresses! There was a mishap at the Tea Ceremony and red tea was spilled ALL over the dress! Luckily we pack a few emergency tools like a tide-to-go pen for every wedding, and we pretty much used up the whole thing on this one!
Carissa getting my “better side”
Passing on knowledge from Father-to-Son
And from YouTube-to-Groom
Then there was that wedding (or 20) where Matt did all of the groomsmen’s ties!
Not bad timing for these ladies!
After having to fix pretty much every necklace that Carissa has ever owned (Maybe I should get her a proper necklace holder case for next Christmas), Matt has some serious fine motor chops
MATT & HIS ANGLES
Everybody wants the ellen selfie…and sometimes even with their own phone! Who needs the fancy cameras anyways!
Not sure if Matt had to go to the bathroom, or actually thought this was the best angle??
If he was 7 feet tall, this would be normal
Or 14 feet tall!
Sometimes Matt has to really show them what he’s looking for…and then they nail it!
If you can’t go up to the tree…just get the tree to come down to you!
“Trust me! Follow me along these narrow slippery rocks over the water in your dress!”
A little excited to see him are we!?
This was a funny one, because the venue coordinator knew that Matt liked climbing things, so she got special access to the rooftop fire escape so he could shoot from above!
If only the bride had some sunglasses 🙂
Laying down on the job
This was a lot harder than it looks! Thanks to Zara and their stretchy dress pants!
Watch out for Carissa’s elbow when shooting the first kiss!
If you’re not going to wear the veil…it’s gotta go somewhere?!
Looks like she doesn’t trust Matt’s cat like maneuverability!
Matt can pull off a white Murse with the best of them
This is how you get them to look at you instead of uncle Bob
Up close and personal
The groom structurally reinforced the ceremony background boxes just so Matt could get up there to get a shot of the whole group!
Nobody really knows what’s going on here…but it’s hot in Hawaii, as you can see by the arm pits!
That rock was just ASKING to be stood on!
Crouching Tiger, hidden dragon
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Oh hey, there you are!
Commitment to the angle…or half time photographer crunches
Give him something that CAN be climbed, and it WILL be climbed
And then there are those emotional moments
He even wipes HER tears!
The bigger they are, the harder they…cry? So sweet though, c’mon!
It’s always fun doing weddings with Carissa’s dad Rob Buzza as the officiant.
FAMILY IN HAWAII
We photographed a wedding in Hawaii and we got to bring the whole family with us…we even put them to work a few times!
The Lightsabre/Monopod is always a hit
Kaitlyn really getting into it!
Gracie’s more of a moral support it seems
That time where the client says “Is Matt ok with going up in a helicopter??” … and we just laugh! and high-five!
TEST SHOTS
Sometimes we need a model to step in to get the light just right…luckily there’s always a model on hand!
Although sometimes she has to check on the kids at bed time!
AAAAAND THAT JUST HAPPENED
Let’s just say that the lovely lady in the pink may not have had all of the “support” that she needed after doing a couple minutes of belly dancing with the belly dancer. I don’t think we can show those pictures on here 😉 Although we could probably show a picture of how red Carissa’s face was when she noticed the Janet Jackson-esque reveal!
Like any good mom would!
We love the Chinese door games! Not sure how much they love being the ones involved though?!
Notice the penguin….oh, and yes of course all of us as well! ha!
Nothing like embarrassment and vandalism on the morning of!
A little George Costanza pose for y’all
“Quick, do the pose that your sock super hero would do!” …. Um…I don’t think I’ve ever seen Iron Man do the double thumbs up…but I could be wrong
Best groomsmen gifts ever…nerf guns…for the pre-wedding nerf fight!
She just wanted to be included!
OK Mark, suck it in buddy!
And then TEAR IT OFF
OK, ready…3…2….1…..GO!
When you’re climbing through the bushes, and your bag is left open…I guess sometimes it just seems like a great place to start a web!
The way to his heart!
Yep, that’s about right.
HELPING OUT
The most important part of the day….Caffeine Fill up!
You think two guys can get this curly hair figured out?
Always be looking for your next protege…We may have found him!
Chivalry aint dead
If there’s one thing Matt does faster than most…it’s boutonnieres!
Although the first one looks like a wrestling move…she’s ok folks!
Getting the bride JUST right!
MORE SHOOTING
“Ummm…should I be here too?”
Loving this pose….and something else about this photo… 😉
Best dresses ever…especially the flower girl! Pretty sure her eyes are saying “Hey, you want a piece of me?! Do YOU, want a PIECE, of ME?!?!”
This takes the cake for the longest sparkler writing yet!
Sometimes we get a little wet…but we stay warm! These girls are BRAVE in those dresses!!
Matt just HAD to give them high fives after they NAILED the group jump!
Looking for lizards?!?
Wedding day in Mexico outfit vs. Rehearsal day outfit in Mexico
In order to shoot shoes..you kind of have to get down to their level!
“yep, look that way”
Carissa always loves the helpful groomsmen!
“Stand right there…I need to get my settings right for the shot!”
Yes…there is a RIGHT way to hold flowers 🙂
And to sit with flowers
GREAT CLIENTS
This was a pretty awesome surprise…Bev planned a special moment for Matt at her reception by having the DJ play “Shave it off”! If you haven’t seen it, Matt recorded his own version of the Taylor Swift hit for Movember last year!
And sometimes, Brides and Bridesmaids are just awesome, and plan out a whole uptown funk routine for their guests!
Always the competitor, Matt had to take on the groom on the classic bean bag toss game!
Steve and Laura asked Matt to sing their first dance, so of course, he learned “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes and performed it while Carissa shot the first dance! (Side note: this does not happen for everyone)
When it rains, Super Carissa comes out!
And then there’s the time that the rugby playing bride TACKLED a guest!! Don’t worry, apparently they do it all the time.
HAHA! Ah yes, and then there was the time that Carissa was supposed to toss the veil in the air and run out of the view of the camera….
Her first attempt…oops, wrong way
Then she gave her an extra arm…and didn’t quite make it out in time! Well…maybe she could hide?
Nope, that doesn’t work either
Can still see your leg! “Seriously, if you can see me, the camera can see you!”
Matt’s even been the flowergirl before! Somebody’s got to do it!
And of course, how else would we end off this post, but with a photo of Matt up in a tree. His second home!
