Mexico Destination Wedding Day 1 & 2: Trisha and Jay

What an AMAZING action-packed week we had in Cancun a few weeks ago celebrating with Jay & Trisha! Jay is from England and Trisha is from Vancouver, so getting married at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun was a perfect place for both families to come together! We absolutely LOVE the colors of Indian Weddings!! They are extra fun to photograph!

The first night we were there, was the Mehndi Night & Welcome Dinner! It was a great opportunity for all the friends and family to get to know each other and mingle. Some of the ladies were beautifully decorated in Henna. Later in the evening, they had some Karoake! Most of the songs were Hindi, but Matt managed to find some Bryan Adams!

The next morning, we arrived for the Pithi Ceremony! The bride and groom will sit separately with their families performing many special rituals and ceremonies. A lot of the women in their family will come up and put yellow paste all over them. I love the photo after of Jay wiping some of it off of Trisha’s face.

Later in the day, each of the families had their Santak Ceremony. These include a lot more special Indian traditions. The amount of materials, spices, jewelry and clothing that were needed for these events was unbelievable. I’m pretty sure each family needed to bring 8 extra suitcases each just for wedding materials!
